About McKenna
Sports and dance have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a competitive dancer, I have spent years learning how to improve my skills, push myself, and perform at my best.
I chose BODY SMART by McKenna because I have experienced personal injury simply because I did not know the signs to look for. I have had surgeries on both my knees, and I know how easy it is for young athletes to focus on getting better, working harder, and pushing through without always thinking about what their bodies need.
We spend so much time learning how to improve our skills, but I believe we should also learn how to protect the body that allows us to perform those skills. I especially want younger athletes to know that being strong does not mean hiding pain or being afraid to tell someone when something does not feel right.
My goal is to reach at least 500 young athletes across Texas and give them information they can continue using long after my year of service. BODY SMART by McKenna is about a simple idea: we teach kids how to play the game, but we should also teach them how to protect the body that lets them play.
Connect with McKennaMcKenna’s Mission
To be an advocate who connects young athletes with good information, encourages them to speak up and ask for help when they need it, and reminds every child that rest and recovery are part of becoming a stronger athlete.
